The Plastic Pickup Challenge

Day 130 – Now that the weather is starting to get warmer and we’ll be spending more time outside, I have a challenge for you. I challenge you to pick up three pieces of plastic everyday (or at least when you are out and about) and put it into the trash. Ideally, if the item is recyclable, placing it in a recycle bin is better. However, just removing it from a place where it could enter a waterway and potentially harm wildlife or breakdown into microplastics and harm us, is immensely helpful.

Can you imagine if we all picked up three pieces of plastic, everyday, how much better our environment would be?

Can you imagine not needing to worry about picking up plastic? Maybe someday, but currently, it is a serious problem that threatens our lakes, rivers, streams and oceans.

Besides picking up three pieces of plastic a day, the other part of the challenge is to encourage three other people to do the same. Then those three encourage three other people and so and so on. And what first seems like a very small way to make a difference has become a huge movement to remove plastics from littering our communities.

Maybe, even go a step farther and pickup other types of litter as well. It’s an easy task that can make a big difference.

Tomorrow, shower curtain recycling and environmentally friendly options.
